TimeWand I System

A basic TimeWand I system includes a TimeWand I, a TimeWand I Recharger/Downloader Station (single or multiple), a serial port cable, and software such as the Security Management Systems. Enhance your system with the addition of the Battery Tester and the TimeWand I protective pouch.

Recharger/Downloader Stations

Single and multiple Recharger/Downloader Stations are available for the TimeWand I. The TimeWand I Recharger/Downloader Stations provide the communications link between the TimeWand I and the computer and also recharge the TimeWand I's nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries.

The Multiple Recharger/Downloader

Station offers a convenient and economical way to connect multiple TimeWand I's to a single computer. The multiple station requires at least two components, a control unit and an add-on. The control unit contains the serial port and power connections, and the add-on unit contains the TimeWand I recharging and downloading slot. You may connect up to twelve add-ons to one control unit. Single and multiple stations may be linked together, enabling a number of TimeWand I's to be connected to a single computer. (Specifications)

Battery Tester

Verify that your TimeWand I has enough battery charge for the job. The TimeWand I battery tester will indicate whether your TimeWand I batteries have plenty of power or require recharging.
Protective Pouch

Protect your TimeWand I from daily wear and tear with the TimeWand I protective pouch. While in the pouch, the TimeWand I is fully functional; the read head is accessible, and the scan button location is marked. The metal ring makes for easy attachment to a key ring or lanyard.

Software
The TimeWand I Communications software enables the TimeWand I to read a variety of bar code symbologies and transfers the scanned data to the computer as an ASCII text file. You can format the text file for easy import into your database or spreadsheet.

The TimeWand I Communications software provides programming options that allow the TimeWand I to read Code 3 of 9, UPC-A & E, Interleaved 2 of 5, or EAN bar code symbologies. Other programming options include a longer LED flash for noisy environments and Code 3 of 9 hierarchy programs for scanning bar codes in a predetermined order.

The TimeWand I Communications software manual features a quick-start section and a comprehensive learning guide. Windows DLL's are available for software developers.

DOS

The communications software for DOS computers includes one 3.5" disk and complete documentation on the operation of hardware and software. The software includes a menu-driven program and a command line program. The menu-driven program is designed specifically for ease of use. The command line program can be run from the DOS prompt, from a batch file, or from within a PC application program. Both the menu-driven program and the command line program support modem communications.

Programming Tools

Both communications software packages provide modules that allow developers to create custom applications. Videx has information and source code available to assist in custom application development.

Software Compatibility

The TimeWand I and the DuraWand are software compatible, allowing you to use these products interchangeably in an application.
